Display of seeds at SADCThe struggle for seed sovereignty or seed freedom has been integral to the social justice movements. Over the years these struggles have been located within rural, landless movements particularly indigenous and farming communities but over the years other activists who were concerned at the power and control of Transnational Corporations over our daily lives. They have joined because they were inspired by the anti-genetically modified organisms who have attempted to take over not only seed supply but our food and water supplies and with it our rights to resist and live in democracies.
